Description

This rug was handwoven by Khatima, Rokia and Mina.

These artisans belong to a women-only weaving association located 30 km from the renowned weaving town of Tazenakht.

This rug is made up of two techniques. The Zanafi border technique, originating from the High Atlas Mountains, is particularly special due to its reversible nature—the symbols invert depending on the side, offering a unique and versatile design.

The center of the rug is crafted using the Flatweave technique, known for its durability and intricate patterns.

This piece is created using 100% “live” wool, which ensures healthier, stronger fibers. While the Zanafi border is made from undyed wool, the colors in the Flatweave section are derived from natural dyes. The vibrant blue is achieved using indigo stones, and the symbolism is hand-stitched and embroidered with dyes made from henna, beets, flowers, pomegranate skins, and saffron.

This rug is a true testament to Moroccan craftsmanship, blending tradition, artistry, and natural materials into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
